Everything but the Annie Leibovitz

I had quite a fun action packed weekend. Not bad for a murky January.
I paid a visit to the tip on Saturday and noticed a rickety transport museum hidden next door. I think it only opens at special times and relies on volunteers to keep it running. I shall do some further investigating as it may make a good photo-shoot location.

On Sunday, I tempted to pay a visit to see the Annie Leibovitz exhibition. This had sold out. Is Art becoming the new Rock'n'Roll, I wonder? Anyway, I popped into Ping Pong for a spot of Dim Sum. The food reminds me of fireworks, as in the Oooooo. Ahhhhhh. Effect. Later on I went to Esher, and attended a pub quiz. A couple of pub quiz facts for you: Sammy Davis Jr has a glass eye and The first Dirty Harry Film was made in 1971. Yep, with facts like these, maybe you should avoid having me on your team as you’ll never win...

My nephew, Elliot

The Obama inauguration, is being watched on the telly in my office as I type.
It must be quite weird to grow up in a world that will already have had a black president, the internet and existence of life on Mars.
Maybe the future will be all about Dark Matter?

railway bell

Popped into to the Railway Bell, South Woodford. Played Killer, with the aid of darts and discussed the NYC, Grateful Dead gig adventure. They are playing a handful of gigs, mainly on the East coast. We got some tickets for the Long Island date. Looking forward to it.

Nephett

My sister gave birth to a baby boy this morning. I have nicknamed him, Nephett. This was because they wasn't to sure if it would be a girl or a boy. Hence me calling it Nephett.

Rothko and I

I went to the Rothko Exhibition on Sunday. Amazing!
I found myself tranquilly gazing into his pictures. Some of the images felt like they might be the last thing you would envision just before death, whilst others felt like you could be back in the womb. Not the sort of critc you would here on Radio 4 I know, but I felt quite inspired by it all.

Post-Callaghan-ism

Apologies to the band, Clark Cat. However, I thought it made a good backdrop for the ( very random) Margaret Thatcher nut-cracker present, that I got for Christmas.

The Piñata Story

The Lovely Abby, made me a Christmas Robin Piñata for Christmas. Packed with goodies. It felt a shame to crack the master piece open, but the boy inside me, quite enjoyed smashing the crap out of it.
Kind of beats the Christmas stocking, literately.

Sleepy Hollow Ponds

Hollow Ponds is one of Leytonstone's best kept secrets. I don't know what the others. I guess that's just how secret they really are... The Hollow Ponds are just a stones throw away from Whips Cross Hospital, the birth place of David Beckham. Alfred Hitchcock was born in Leytonstone too. So as a guess, this weird trippy-tree place, just may have influenced him? Probably more in the sense as to move away, rather than film making.

01 - 01- 2009

Feeling inspired by the Francis Bike-on post, from the Sugar Free Badger blog. I checked out the Francis Bacon exhibition at the Tate Britain, on New Years day; You forget how brutal his pictures are. I also got the impression that the late Hunter. S Thompson, would have been a big fan too. If I recall, Francis Bacon once smoked pot with William Burroughs somewhere in Morocco. I think he had an allergic reaction, so I guess you couldn’t see Bacon and Hunter hanging out. I strolled back, passing the Houses of Parliament and took a couple of snaps of the protester, Brian Haw. I don’t really know to much about the man and he’s protest. I tend to be quite sceptical about these things. However, here is a link to the man so you can check him out for yourself.

Christmas slacker

I have been a bit slack with blogging over Christmas. So here is a brief run down in photos.
Happy New Year anyway.

The good old boys. The day before Christmas eve. Johnny-Logic, Cormac, Simon and James.

My Nan, with her Christmas gifts. I bought her the T-Rex.

My nephew, Seany-darko. Holding the Christmas present that I got him; It was a multi-story car park and it took a good 3 hours to build. I'm buying him a pop-up book next year.
Christmas day telly. The Jazz Singer, very festive.

My mum's bathroom: She hasn't decorated this room yet. It's an 19080s relic.

Sunset, my Aunt's back garden, Northampton.

Jo, me and missus Boon, aka H. Hoxton hotel.
In memory of Harry King. The Approach pub, Bethnal Green
