Yesterdays weather.

Well if you live in London's capital, then you would have witnessed a lot rain yesterday. Come on, it's good for the crops and stuff. Lucky for me I left work when it was starting to clear and I caught a glimpse or quite a vivid rainbow. Going by the direction, I'm guessing the pot of gold would be somewhere around the Elephant and Castle direction.

Are you going to Althorp Fair

Althorp fair, Northamptonshire. This is home to the Spencer family i.e. Princess Diana's folks. My Mum lives up the road to the place, so we paid a visit to the fair. The chap with the owl, how cool is he... He also had some falcons which he used in a bird of prey demonstration. Being a local fete, naturally there was loads of other cool weird stuff going on too. Sadly no Morris dancers. I've enclosed some pics of Diana's resting place too. What with the wind blowing and the sun bursting through the trees, the place did remind me of the Walt Disney film The Watcher in The Woods .

Power To The People

Last night saw the savour of the EMD cinema (Hooray!). This was via the help of an organised protest that took place outside the town hall, whilst a decision was being made of the cinema’s future, by councillors inside. You could follow the hearing on twitter, by searching for tags @Saveourcinema and #awsomestone. I’m guessing that the whole campaign was fuelled by the internet and the people of Waltham Forest realised that they weren’t alone in trying to save the cinema. Power to the people can be a powerful thing indeed.
Ok, so there’s still a long way to go before it can be brought back to its finest glory. But, so far so good and the cinema doesn’t seem to be going the same way as the local dog stadium.

Pet Sounds

This a little inner city farm up the road to me known as Brooks Farm. It must be kind of weird being woken up by farm animals every morning whilst living on the fourth floor of a council estate. I wonder if the Tories cut backs will stretch to farm animals, let's hope not.
Mind you they did steal the milk from the poor, so I wouldn't put it past them.

Friends re-united

This is a photo of some of my Aunt's friends from the late 1960s. Not too sure who they are but they look pretty cool and seem to be enjoying themselves.

The birthplace of Iron Maiden

I also walked past this place the other day too. Apparently Iron Maiden played their first gigs at the Cart and Horses, that's before they experimented with a keyboard player and then deciding to drop that sound. according to sing365.com the first gig was in 1977 and to put that in context, I would have been 3 and the film Star Wars would have just been released in the UK too. Going by the sign they're still keeping it rock ad with a 2am license.
I'll be popping in for a snake bite at a later date.
