Well I was lucky enough for Mr Santa Claus to drop me off a new field camera and I'm now shooting with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7, many thanks Santa. Here's a few shots from the new Lumix and I'll put up a we review later in month.

I usually poo-poo these sort of things but I have to say it was bit of a giggle. We met the East London Santacon brigade around Liverpool Street. From there we traveled by tube to St Paul's and from there, well we should have ended up at Trafalgar Square I do believe. We ended up at Marble Arch, via a few pubs and caught up with some fellow Santas from the north/south and west London divisions.

Compost. I have been adding kitchen and garden waist, soil from old plant pots, the odd clump of allotment soil and some manure from the annual allotment pile (apparently it comes from the police horses) that arrives to the site. Going by Monty Don's method, you turn it by rotating the stuff from one compost bin to another. This gives it a good airing which breaks up the components. Yes, not quite Breaking Bad but there is a good bit if science breaking down all that organic matter. I only have 2 compost bins and I've aerated and scooped it all into 1 for a slow-cook over the winter period.

We took tot he river Lea for a pre-Christmas paddle. The weather was on our side and we ended up paddling back in the dark. The night time shot is from the go-carting track, this appeared out of the darkness with the go-carts still thundering around the track. It was very Apocalypse Now. Never you get off the boat.

Good news over at Die Rache with photographer David Titlow winning the Taylor Wessing photographic portrait prize. David's winning shot (a detail from the winning photo seen above) will be on show at the National Portrait Gallery, running from the 13th November to the 22nd February 2015. I'll be taking a trek to see it pretty soon.
