Marylebone to Fitzrovia

Always a good jaunt visiting this part of town. Marylebone, like Fitzrovia seems to have swerved the Crossrail bludging and I guess that does give Sherlock something to put in his pipe and smoke.  Elementary

Walthamstow market by night

Going by the local history books, Walthamstow's market used to be open 24 hours, probably due to the selling of raw meats and fresh fish. The local pubs would have been like an episode from the film Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. As gritty as it looked, post-war London seemed a fascinating time. Photographer John Deakin and friend of Francis Bacon, captured the Soho scene of the 1950s pretty well. I'll keep an eye out for Walthamstow's alternative.

Obituary: Photographer Lord Snowdon 1930 - 2017

We say goodbye to society photographer and former husband to Princess Margaret, Lord Snowdon. Snowdon, understandably had he's fare share of critics, so even more of a reason to admire his work.  He was also a dapper gentlemen and a fellow member of  Camera Press photo agency. Snowdon, recently donated over a hundred original prints to the National Portrait gallery, so we shall be looking forward to some future exhibitions dedicated to the man.

Meanwhile in Hampstead

Well it just wouldn't be new year without a trip to Hampstead and a catch-up with Mr Boon.  2017 I managed to combine the two and it's always a pleasure to see some of the old Ice crew.

Brixham

Wooed by the smell of fish and chips whilst catching glimpses of the winter sun. A return visit will be in order for Brixham

Bigbury-on-Sea New Year's day

A slight change to Christmas day’s location with a trip to Bigbury beach in Devon. And with the tide being so low we managed to make it across to Agatha Christie’s old haunt, Burgh Island.

Low tide makes a good day to visit Burgh Island
